When we make music we really believe in, we know with a netlabel the right people will get to hear it
We've been working on those tracks for just over a year... Well, I ran an actual label for several years... We both grew up in the 1980's...
Oscilator: Your debut LP is out now on Camomille, how long you have been working on this one?
Aaron: We've been working on those tracks for just over a year, from mid 2002 until late 2003. It then took us a while to master, mix, and finalize the 14 tracks that are on the LP.
Oscilator: How did you get together and how long has Trivial Music existed?
Tesia: Well I guess getting together musically just made sense after being together for so long. Trivial has been around for about a year. Aaron's been writing for a long time and this is my first album.
Aaron: Tesia did a lot of the drum work, and obviously all the vocals. I focus on melody, synthesis, and the production end.
Oscilator: You have decided to take a chance with a netlabel, is that just a temporary solution or a philosophy?
Aaron: Well, I ran an actual label for several years a while back, and i've also released music with Monotonik before. We really like the idea of a netlabel, it removes the pressures of needing to be commercially viable, and allows you to really make what you feel, with no worry about who will buy it. When we make music we really believe in, we know with a netlabel the right people will get to hear it.
Oscilator: Please tell me something about your live and studio setup and are you planning any gigs?
Aaron: We recorded everything in our home studio using Sound Forge for vocals, and FL Studio for all of the production. Many of our synthesizers are custom VST instruments that I develop myself. We would like to get a set ready for a live show, but currently a lot of our work is not real time, so we would have to spend some time and money getting ready to do a show.
Oscilator: Would you tell me something about your influences?
Tesia: We both grew up in the 1980's and were greatly influenced by the sounds of that time: Human League, New Order, The Cure, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, DEVO, and Kraftwerk were big inspirations to both of us.
Aaron: We both also grew up surrounded by video games, and the tones & sounds of them from our childhood still comes out in our sounds.
Oscilator: Are there any new artists that you like?
Aaron: We both listen to ADULT., Ellen Allien, Ascii Disko, T Raumschmiere, DMX Krew, MT Sims, The Faint, and Vive La Fete!
Tesia: We also love Sascha Funke, Benny Benassi, Radiohead and Kylie.
Oscilator: Is there anything else that you want to say?
Aaron: Sure! We're both very productive with our other projects. Tesia works at Trollback & Company (www.trollback.com) making film credits and commercials, and also does a ton of her own design work (www.cotton-design.com, www.metaltype.com). The VST instruments I've created can be downloaded for free at Tweakbench (www.tweakbench.com). I'm also currently working on a PC game (www.mereoblivion.com), and we've just started working on the new songs for second Trivial Music release.
